We recently had our church weekend away at the Quinta centre in Shropshire, where we looked together at the theme of 'Joy in the Lord', asking what it is, what it isn't and how do we find some?! We had a wonderful time together with lots of laughter, conversation, prayer, worship, eating (splendid food) and generally relaxing in the goodness of God. Thank you to everyone who made this possible.
It was a joy and privilege to be part of the service on Saturday Feb 4th when Fiona was licensed as reader
at Birmingham Cathedral. Last year she was there supporting Philippa and this year Philippa was part of
those supporting her! We thank God for our readers and for all those accepting the Lord's call on their lives.
May they know joy and delight as they serve Him in these roles.
The gents of St Christopher's don't get together often but one group did manage a very pleasant walk and breakfast recently.
All good fun.
It was a joy and an honour to be with Philippa on the morning of Jan 22nd for her licensing as a reader at St Christopher's. The service was held at the cathedral and led by Bishop David. May God grant her many years of fruitful ministry in our church and beyond. It was also good to get a glimpse of our former curate Beccy!
It was our joy and privilege to welcome Parmi and Steven to St Christopher's on Sunday Jan 9th for a service of blessing on their recent wedding. We prayed for them as they affirmed their marriage vows together. We enjoyed some lovely refreshments afterwards and are grateful to God and to the family for sharing this joy with us all.
On Sunday 19th September it was our joy to celebrate with Richard, Rebecca and the whole family as we dedicated Amelia to God at St Christopher's. It was a lovely occasion and a joy to welcome Amelia, fully and formally, into our church family. She and the whole family looked amazing.
We're delighted to rejoice with Debbie Gurling, our Anna Chaplain, as she was recently awarded a certificate in ministry with older people. This learning and professional development will complement her instinctive care for and understanding of older people and their spiritual needs.
We're very proud of her!
On Sunday it was our joy to welcome ND, Valentine, David and baby Darren to our 9.30am service for Darren's dedication. Although this had to be rather brief and with Covid restrictions, it was still good to welcome Darren into our church family, thank God for him and pray God's blessings on the family. We can add his dedication to the long list of celebrations we can hold once we can meet, greet and eat together again!
In pre-lockdown days, we were delighted to host the 40th wedding anniversary of Sharda and Viren Lavingia on February 9th 2020.
It was a wonderful occasion full of colour and joy and it was our honour to welcome members of the family to St Christopher's. We thanked God for them and prayed for His ongoing blessing on their lives together. The happy couple looked just as stunning as on their wedding day!
